Day 225. Toys.

Kids toys and digger at the park. The Smurfs have had better days,
showing the wear of many years, but happy to be played with...
and they have a movie coming soon.

Day 223. Airplane.

More paper gift box designs. Some of the limitations I've set for myself
on these little projects: 1-no more than two sheets of paper. 2- it has to fold
flat.3- it has to be strong enough to hold solid treats/candy.4-functional,decorative
and collectible. Keep things simple, but challenging.

Day 221. Black Truck.

This is the finished business card, as noted yesterday.
An old black truck at BFM. I don't think it runs anymore.
The body is still in good shape, take a bit to fix.

Very busy this week, some extra work has come in,
will be slowing down on posts. I will do my best to update.

Thanks for visiting.

Day 220. Grampie's Woodworks..

I talked with Gary last Saturday about doing up a new business card for him.
The original cards were hand cut individually, framed in a rubber stamp of
a jar. A homemade approach. It has all the important information and
reflects the business image. I suggested using the signage he created
for his little shop, as the business card. I took a picture and took it
home to work on.
I took out the knot in the "G" and the line that went through
"wood works", straightened out the sign...keeping it flat,
minimized the distortion and bumped up the colour and contrast.
Other text was added, which was originally on the back, then
printed and cut it.
I'll post a picture of the original and finished product later.

Thanks for visiting.

Day 217. Slipping.

A little harder to get the sketchbook out lately, busy with work.

I'll get back in the game soon.

Day 216. M's Birthday.

We celebrated M's birthday yesterday. Out for breakfast,
shopping and an afternoon with the family.

I've secured a spot downtown, for an Artist tent.
A small space, but I get to show my work to
more people. Scary move, but should be worth it.
Better to grow and change, by taking chances,
than remain in a rut.

Thanks for visiting.

Day 213. Stephen Avenue.

I was set up at Stephen Avenue today, showing some of the work
on a busy street, full of people on a lunch hour rush.

I'm playing around with more gift box designs, trying to keep them
simple and functional. The challenge is to be able to store them flat
and be strong enough to hold small items.

Day 212 Star Lanterns at Night.

I had to wait till darkness to create images for this post.

I finally found the right light source for these lanterns, they work
pretty well, but could be brighter.Still pretty cool to walk around
with at night. I'll do one up for Halloween too.

I'll have them available for sale on Stephen Avenue Thursdays,
and at other markets.Still looking at distribution options.

Thanks for visiting.

Day 211. Sketch to Finish Product.

"What do you think about putting candy in paper stars?"
That started a conversation with Rick at BFM, last Saturday.
I got to sketching that afternoon. By the end of the night I had a
prototype for show on Sunday.A few people saw it, and I
may be producing more gift boxes for other businesses.

I am learning something new with each design, always
improve and refine to create something better.

Thanks for visiting.

Day 210. Paper Star (5 point)

This paper construction folds up, has little star cut outs
and has room for an LED light. I'll have a picture of that
soon. This can also work as a gift container.

Day 209. Weigh 2 Go!

First mock ups of creative packaging for Weigh 2 Go.
Small gift boxes for party give aways, filled with candy
and other goodies. More designs in the works.

The boys wouldn't give them back to me this afternoon,
wanting to play with them. I take that as "Kid approval".
