One Tree, One Year.

This image has taken one year to complete. A picture taken every couple of days...
there is more experimentation to come.

I walk by this tree every day. I decided to take a picture to record it's growth in one year.
From season to season, week by week. I think very few people stop to appreciate this tree,
to sit under its shade or taste its fruit. I have enjoyed watching it grow and will share it with everyone
who recognizes the beautiful things that are around us everyday.

Thanks for visiting.

Sketchbook Box and Sky Photo.

Another box on the go...this one for a sketchbook.
I started with a base of white acrylic wash
over a rough pencil sketch.

Followed by pencil crayons blended with
turpentine and a brush.

Details in black pencil crayons and lines
applied with brush and India ink.

A high gloss varnish will be applied on the finished image.
Hardware and other features to follow.

A beautiful sunrise on a Monday morning...
I had to take a few pictures and have a little fun with
Photoshop today.

A friend of mine was also taking pictures at about the same time...
I hope she had a "Happy Birthday (MCS)"

Thanks for visiting.

Wishes and Dreams CCEE 2011.

This was my contribution to the 2011 CCEE
Art Book. I think I signed more books than last year.
Fun to and love to share the work.

The original inked page went up for auction to benefit
Make a Wish Foundation. I hope it has found a good home,
with someone who really appreciates the work I've done.

Thanks for stopping by and actually visiting me.
Awesome to see so many good friends I've made
in this creative community.

Sea Salt Black Bird.

With a very wet brush, blue and black pigment
was applied on the board. Coarse sea salt was sprinkled
on the wet surface, creating a lighting effect as it dried.
It was a "big black shape" before it transformed
into the bird. Black, white and brown conte crayons
added accents. Finished with a pencil for fine lines,
then scanned and a little more work on Photoshop.

A starting point for more experimentation.

Thanks for looking.

Pancake Fun.

We are stuck inside on a rainy day.
I made pancakes and got a little creative.
Ghost Pancakes.

Hellboy pancake.

A little bit of fun with the kids.

One week away from CCEE, gotta get more stuff ready.

Jet Pens Ripped?

I got a package from Jet Pens, that I ordered just before Christmas.
The whole top section was ripped off. Someone really wanted pens.

Luckily, I got all the contents( minus the invoice)
replacement brush and pencil extender.
This was having a little fun with coloured plastic candy
wrappers, used as filters on the camera.
Combined with Photoshop,
Zach can play with light-sabers.
(Now Caleb wants to be "Dark Vader")

Day 235. Reservoir

A warm Autumn day out by the waters edge. Extra careful with the boys.
Always within arms reach, give them room to grow.

Day 234. Mechano Do Hickey.

I was watching NOVA last night, about the Hubble telescope rescue.
Astronauts learned, rehearsed and performed repairs on the space telescopes.
Amazing how bad screws can cost millions and jeopardize an entire mission.

I had machine parts floating around in my head, while drawing....
images, not literally.

Thanks for visiting.

Day 228. Cut Paper.

My days at Stephen Avenue are winding down. Rain has put
a damper on sales. I've had a couple of days to play with
new designs. Latest ones are constructed without glue.

Thanks for visiting.

Day 225. Toys.

Kids toys and digger at the park. The Smurfs have had better days,
showing the wear of many years, but happy to be played with...
and they have a movie coming soon.

Part of a set I shot on the weekend, doing touch ups on them.
A very interesting discovery in Calgary. Thanks to Chuck
for showing me around.

Day 221. Black Truck.

This is the finished business card, as noted yesterday.
An old black truck at BFM. I don't think it runs anymore.
The body is still in good shape, take a bit to fix.

Very busy this week, some extra work has come in,
will be slowing down on posts. I will do my best to update.

Thanks for visiting.

Day 219 Smoke in the Sky.

Lots of smoke in the sky in Calgary, make for interesting sunsets.

Day 216. M's Birthday.

We celebrated M's birthday yesterday. Out for breakfast,
shopping and an afternoon with the family.

I've secured a spot downtown, for an Artist tent.
A small space, but I get to show my work to
more people. Scary move, but should be worth it.
Better to grow and change, by taking chances,
than remain in a rut.

Thanks for visiting.

Day 215. Fireworks at Prince's Island.

Had a long day and a late night for fireworks downtown. We had the lanterns
on a promo run, testing reactions from the festival attendees. Good night.
